Curriculum
Blair emphasizes the development of well-rounded individuals in every aspect of student life. The Arts, both Visual and Performing, are an important part of this process.
From introductory to advanced, the course offerings include everything from painting and drawing (including mechanical and architectural) to ceramics, photography, and art history. Our Art Department also boasts a unique course designed to allow students to develop a comprehensive portfolio. The Performing Arts program offers students many levels of theatre classes as well as an enviable range of music instruction from which to choose. With the completion of the new Armstrong-Hipkins Center for the Arts, an expanded arts curriculum and improved performance facilities will develop to the fullest the potential of each student.
In the classrooms at Blair, students will find unique course offerings, many of which have been prompted by student interest. One such course is Mandarin Chinese, which was introduced as a complement to the Asian Studies program in History. It proved so popular that additional sections of the course had to be added to meet student demand. Chinese courses are now offered for all four academic years.
