Blair defeats Hun - 4/28
The Blair Baseball team improved its record to 8-3 with a win over Hun on Thursday. It was a tight ballgame throughout with both clubs making several good defensive plays to keep the game close. Blair opened the scoring with two runs in the third inning and then Hun responded with a single run in both the fifth and sixth innings to tie the score. Blair rallied in the bottom of the sixth exploding for eight runs on six Buccaneer hits. Brad Weiss led the way for Blair going two for three with a three run triple and a single. Ty Johnston added a two run triple in the sixth as well. Richard Kurth got the win for Blair with a fine pitching performance giving up seven hits and striking out nine. Blair is now 2-2 in MAPL competition.
Blair shuts out Pope John - 4/26
Ty Johnston picked up his second win of the season while pitching five innings of two hit ball and striking out eight Pope John batters. Richard Kurth pitched two strong innings in relief to seal the 7-0 win for Blair. Captain Brad Weiss led all hitters with four RBIs while just missing hitting for the cycle. Weiss belted a double, a three run triple and a solo homerun. Blair is now 7-3.
Bucs defeat Morris Catholic - 4/25
Kevin Brewster, Dustin Minore and Kurt Socha all had two hits in the 9-0 shutout of Morris Catholic on Monday. Kurt Socha also picked up the win on the mound for the Bucs pitching seven innings of four hit ball.
Blair 8 - St. Benedicts 1 - 4/21
Blair scored five runs in the first inning and never looked back on its way to an 8-1 victory over St. Benedicts. Rich Doyle and Chris Makrinos led the way for the Bucs at the plate with two hits apiece, along with a three run homerun by Dustin Minore. Brian Baudinet was the winning pitcher throwing five innings and giving up just two hits and striking out six. Freshman Chris Scoda pitched two strong innings in relief to close the game out.
Peddie knocks off Blair - 4/20
Five defensive errors spelled doom for Blair as they were defeated by Peddie 6-0 on Wednesday. A 1-0 ballgame through four and a half innings turned ugly in the bottom of the fifth as Peddie scored four runs as a result of several Blair defensive miscues. Peddie pitcher Kyle Damn was terrific for the Falcons throwing a three hitter, shutting down the Blair hitters. The loss puts Blair at 1-2 in the MAPL league.
