Blair Basketball Facts & Figures
- Blair's 11-year record: 199
wins - 80 losses.
- Seven of last 10 MAPL Tournament
Champions (2000 to 2003, 2005, 2006, 2010).
- Blair is 63-12 in MAPL League competition since the league’s
inception 11 years ago.
- Blair was the only high school team in
the nation this decade to have two McDonald’s and Parade
All-Americans (Villanueva ’03 and Deng ’03) in the same year.
- There are three former Blair players
in the NBA and 19 playing in college (11 at the D-1 level).
- Two Blair graduates Wellington Smith
(West Virginia) and Jordan Davidson (Duke) played in the
2010 Final Four.
- Jordan Davidson (Duke ’10) joined Charlie
Villanueva (UCONN) as the two Blair alums who
have won NCAA National Championships… Five Blair
alums have played in the Final Four in the last decade.
- Blair has produced two NBA first round
picks, Luol Deng (drafted seventh in 2004) and Charlie
Villanueva (drafted seventh in 2005), and one second round pick,
Royal Ivey (drafted 37th in 2005).
- Blair graduates in college coaching ranks:
Woody Kampmann ’01 is an assistant basketball coach at Boston College, former
Blair coach Terrell Ivory (Blair assistant coach ’06-’08)
is now an assistant coach at Davidson College. Ben
Kenyon ’02 is head strength and conditioning coach at George Washington
University. Gregor Van Pelt ’06 is a student assistant
at Wentworth Institute of Technology Jay
Garells ’01 is an assistant coach at East Stroudsburg University.
- Blair Academy has had graduates compete
at Duke, Stanford, Rutgers, West Virginia, Texas, Brown,
Yale, UNC-Greensboro, UNC Charlotte, Boston University,
UNH, Appalachian State, Rider, Canisius, Marist,
Wesleyan, Randolph Macon, Ursinus, Dickinson and Washington
and Lee.
