Basketball: Wangmene commits to UT

Former Central Catholic center Alexis Wangmene has committed to play at Texas, UT officials said.

Wangmene, 6-foot-8 and a native of Cameroon, played at Central Catholic as a sophomore and junior. He will transfer to Blair Academy in New Jersey — the same prep school that produced former Longhorns player Royal Ivey — to play his senior season.

Wangmene was one of two commitments UT garnered Tuesday. The other came from Clint Chapman, a 6-9 forward from Canby, Ore.
