New York University senior Jon Phillips earned All-America honors with a runner-up performance in the 5,000-meter run at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships hosted by Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, IN. Phillips rallied from seventh place in the final four laps in registering a time of 14:33.23. It is the second All-America citation this year for Phillips, having finished 13th in the NCAA cross country meet in the fall.

11/19/06 - John Phillips '03 led NYU to a stunning 2nd place finish at the Div III NCAA Championship. (279 runners...32 full teams) He crossed the line 13th in the race (first fort NYU), which qualified this senior for All-American status. Fine job, Jon!!!

John Phillips's running partner of 2002, Mike Kerrigan, placed 14at the NCAA Div I regional last week (fourth for Villanova). His team placed third in the Mid-Atlantic region.

10/12/06 - Phillips Picked as UAA Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week
Jon Phillips, varsity long distance star at Blair (1999-'03) was a State Prep cross country champion in his junior year. His teams garnered three MAPL titles and two State Prep titles.

New York University senior captain Jon Phillips captured the University Athletic Association Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week award.

Phillips earned the honor after finishing third at Friday's Metropolitan Conference Championships, held at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx.

The senior was the race's top finisher, running the five-mile course in 25:24.9 to end up as the meet's top Division III individual finisher. In addition, he finished just 14.6 seconds off the winning pace.

Ranked #6 in the USTFCCCA DIvision III Poll, NYU returns to action Saturday, October 13, at the Wisconsin-Oshkosh National Invitational in Oshkosh, WI. Meet time is 10 am.
