The cross country running experience at Blair is for athletes of all levels of ability, experience and commitment. Our goal is to assist students to achieve their potential in this sport, wherever their starting point may be. The accent on good sportsmanship and the inclusion of all runners in most events is also part and parcel of our philosophy of sport.

This small corner of Warren County, NJ is a dream for long distance runners. Our standard 5K cross country course covers the flats and hills of the Blair golf course, a wonderful setting for cross country meets. It is decidedly “viewer friendly” as it winds through various loops and starts and finishes through the goal posts of the football field. This happens to be annual venue for the NJ State Prep cross country meet. A fair portion of our training is on the dirt and cinder of the picturesque Paulinskill River Rails to Trails, some 26 miles in length. It’s just a stone’s throw from campus. Add the endless rural roads in our vicinity, and it is safe to say that Blair runners have a unique opportunity to run in an aesthetically beautiful training environment that is easy on the legs.

The cross country season runs from early September to mid-November. A preseason training period of some four days helps prepare runners for the season and allows newcomers to integrate into the Blair community with relative ease.

Prior to this year, Blair's cross country team completed a number of memorable seasons, featuring four State Prep championships, six MAPL (Mid-Atlantic Prep League...Lawrenceville, Hun, Peddie, Hill, Mercersburg, Blair) championships in the last seven years, and team victories at the prestigious Canterbury Invitational (CT) and the Shore Invitational (NJ), defeating over 30 public and private schools. We've had a winning dual meet record for decades and, perhaps just as important, we've had a vibrant junior varsity program featuring some 40 athletes this year.
