Girls’ Cross Country
Latta Browse, Head Coach
Welcome to the Blair Academy girls’ cross-country
page! With several veteran runners and a solid group of new
athletes, the Blair girls look forward to another successful
season. Preseason training begins on September 1st for runners
of all levels, beginner through experienced, to prepare the
team for the first race on September 11th. High school cross-country
races take place over five kilometers (3.1 miles), and Blair
is lucky to have on its campus one of the most challenging,
interesting and beautiful courses in the state of New Jersey.
This fall we will be entering several invitationals – at
Newark Academy, at the Canterbury School in Connecticut and
at the Shore Coaches meet on the famed Holmdel course– in
addition to our dual meet schedule against traditional rivals
Lawrenceville, Hun, Peddie and the Hill School, among others.
At the end of the season, we compete for both the MAPL (Mid
Atlantic Prep League) championship on the Peddie golf course
as well as the New Jersey Prep A championship held on our very
own course at Blair. We close the season with a dual meet against
the Peddie School, joining all the other Blair teams competing
against Peddie on “Peddie Day,” vying for the Kelley-Potter
Cup that symbolizes the winner of the overall athletic competition
between the two schools. The camaraderie and competitive spirit
engendered on the girls’ cross-country team make for
a rewarding experience for all runners. Girls interested in
joining the team should contact Mr. Browse at browsl@blair.edu.
