2012 Girls’ Recaps

5/16 - States
The Blair girls' golf team won their 2nd State Championship in a row on Wednesday at the Peddie School par-37 golf course. The Bucs beat the Lawrenceville School by 3 strokes, 176 - 179. Leading the way for Blair was Ann Park who shot a 41 and finished in second place. Phoebe O'Rourke and Angelina Guan added to the win by both shooting a 44. Lauren Hitchner rounded out the score by carding a 47. Phoebe Dopulos played well finishing her round with a 49. The top 4 scores count towards the team score. This championship adds to the Bucs impressive regular season as they finished with a 9-1 record.

5/12 - MAPL Girls' Golf Championships- 2nd
The Girls' MAPL Golf Championships were held at Lawrenceville School's par 35 golf course. The field consisted of 29 very talented players. In an extremely tight team race, the Bucs placed 2nd getting edged out by only 1 stroke to Lawrenceville, 175-176. All MAPL teams were only 4 strokes from each other showing how competitive the league has become in the last three years. Ann Park shot the 3rd lowest score with a 41, but was tied with another player and walked away with the 4th place medal due to matching of the cards. The Bucs are focused on NJ Prep States which will be played on Wednesday at the Peddie Golf Course.

5/2 - Blair 178 - Lawrenceville 172
The Bucs suffered their first loss in 3 years ending their 28 match winning streak to Lawrenceville, 172-178. Even though all six players for Blair shot in the 40's, the combined 4 lowest scores were not enough. Angelina Guan led the Bucs with a 42 followed by Phoebe O'Rourke with a 43. The two other scores that counted were from Ann Park and Lauren Hitchner who shot 46 and 47 respectively. The Lady Bucs will face Kent Place on Thursday and St. Rose on Saturday, then will start preparing to defend their MAPL league title at the championships in Lawrenceville on Wednesday.

4/30 - Blair 170 - Mt. St. Dominics 230
On Monday, the girls' golf team competed against Mt. St. Dominics from Caldwell, NJ on the Blair golf course. Blair outscored Mt. St. Dominics by 60 strokes, winning 170 - 230. All of the Lady Bucs shot very well and with 5 out of 6 carding scores in the 40's. Once again leading the way for Blair was Angelina Guan who completed the round with a 41 which included four pars. Ann Park, Phoebe O'Rourke and Lauren Hitchner all finished with a 43. Sierra Yit recorded her lowest score of the season shooting a 47. This win extends the Bucs record to 7-0. In a league match, Blair will face a very strong Lawrenceville School at home on Wednesday.

4/27 - Blair 168 - Oak Knoll 229
The Blair girls' golf team earned their 6th consecutive win of the season by beating Oak Knoll 168-229 and remain undefeated. The match was held on Blair's par-35 course this past Friday. Sharing the low score for both teams with a 41 were Julia Brackup and Ann Park. Julia parred 6 holes for her round and Ann parred 3 holes and had one birdie. One stroke behind them was Angelina Guan shooting a 42 and her playing partner, Lauren Hitchner, shot a 44. Phoebe O'Rourke also had a good day shooting a solid 46. The Bucs will face Mt. St. Dominics on Monday and then The Lawrenceville School on Wednesday.

4/25 - Blair 170 - Hill 180
In a home MAPL match, the Lady Bucs were victorious over a very competitive and talented Hill squad. The Blair Bucs defeated the Rams by 10 strokes, 170-180. Leading the way for Blair was Ann Park whose short game and putting helped her card a 39. This was the low score for both teams. Julia Brackup continued to contribute with another solid score in the low 40's coming in with a 41. Adding to the victory were Angelina Guan and Lauren Hitchner who shot a 44 and 46 respectively. With this victory, the Bucs remain undefeated with a 5-0 record. On Friday, the girls will compete against Oak Knoll at home.

4/21 - Girls Invitational

4/18 - Blair 171 - Peddie 190
With a victory over Peddie on the Blair par-35 golf course, the lady Bucs remain unbeaten and extend their record to 4-0. The Bucs outscored the Falcons by 19 strokes. Leading the charge was senior Julia Brackup who carded a 40, which was also the low score for both teams. Juniors Ann Park and Angelina Guan matched scores for the round, both contributing with 43's. Senior Phoebe O'Rourke continues to shoot consistent scores and finished with a 45. Other strong performances for the Bucs were Lauren Hitchner's 47 and Freshman Phoebe Dopulos' 48. The Bucs will host the Blair Invitational on Saturday which will include Kent Place, Lawrenceville, and the Hill School.

4/13 - Blair 162 - Immaculate Heart Academy 193
The Blair girls' golf team improved to a 3-0 record with their win over a very talented and experienced Immaculate Heart Academy of Washington, NJ. For the first time this season, the weather cooperated and gave the players a sunny and peaceful day to complete their 9 hole round on Blair's par-35 course. The Bucs tied their all-time lowest team score by compiling a total of 162 strokes. Leading the charge for the Bucs were Ann Park and Julia Brackup shooting 37 and 39, respectively. Angelina Guan and Phoebe O'Rourke continue to card consistent scores in the 40's both turning in a 43 for the round. Also competing in the match were Lauren Hitchner who shot a 47 and Sierra Yit shooting a 50. The Lady Bucs head to the Lawrenceville Invitational on Saturday and then go head to head once again with the Peddie School at home on Wednesday.

4/11 - Blair 186 (2-0) - Peddie 221
The Blair girls golf team traveled down to Hightstown, NJ to take on the Peddie Falcons. The rain held up, but it was a windy and chilly day on the golf course. The Bucs were challenged by the fast greens and thick fairways, a trademark for the par-37 Peddie golf course. Leading the Bucs to victory was Angelina Guan, whose 44 was the low for both teams. Seniors Julia Brackup and Phoebe O'Rourke were close behind carding a 45 and 47 respectively. Sophomore Lauren Hitchner added to the victory shooting a 50. The Bucs will take on a very strong Immaculate Heart Academy at home on Friday and then head to the Lawrenceville School for their invitational on Saturday.

4/9 - Blair 165 (1-0) - Kent Place 201 (1-1)
The Blair girls' golf team opened their season with a victory over Kent Place outscoring them by 36 strokes. The winds were blowing very hard throughout the Blair Academy golf course, but the Bucs were able to control the flight of their balls and distance. Julia Brackup '12 led the Bucs as low scorer shooting a 40, Ann Park '13 and Angelina Guan '13 both shot a 41, and Lauren Hitchner '14 added to the team total shooting a 43. One stroke behind was Phoebe O'Rourke '12 carding a solid 44. Phoebe Dopulos competed in her very first golf match and came in with a 54. The Lady Bucs head down to Hightstown, NJ on Wednesday to face our rival, The Peddie School.
