Girls’ Golf Win 2011 MAPL Championships

In a very tight team race, Blair girls’ golf won its first MAPL title by edging out the Hill School by two strokes, 186-188. The 2011 MAPL Championship was held Wednesday at Brookside Country Club in Pottstown, PA. On the par 36 course, the slick and undulating greens were very troublesome for the field of 30 competitors. Peddie and Lawrenceville also posted very competitive scores, each within ten strokes of the Bucs.

Leading the way for Blair was Julia Brackup, who carded a 43 and tied with two other players for low score of the tournament. The three went into a two-hole playoff and eventually, Julia finished second. The next lowest score of the tournament was Ann Park, who shot a 47, claiming fourth place. Finishing in the top five, Julia and Ann secure spots on the All-MAPL team. Two other Blair competitors, Angelina Guan and Lauren Hitchner, both shot a 48 and finished in the top ten. Phoebe O'Rourke and Sierra Yit also represented the Bucs shooting 54 and 55 respectively. Next week, the Bucs will head to Hightstown, NJ to compete in the NJISAA States.
