Bucs Take N.J. Prep State Golf Title
Girls’ Team Adds to Earlier MAPL Title
Coach Paul Clavel reports: Due to rain and wet conditions, the New Jersey Prep State Girls’ Golf Championship was postponed from Wednesday to Saturday. A good call since the weather was beautiful, and the Peddie golf course was in excellent condition. The Bucs took advantage of all the elements and walked away with the NJ Prep State title. Blair compiled a score of 170 and outdistanced second place Lawrenceville by 14 strokes.
Leading the Bucs was Ann Park, who had a remarkable round shooting an even par, 37. Ann’s scorecard had to two birdies, a double bogey, and pars the rest of the holes. This score was the lowest of the tournament, and Ann became the second state champion for Blair in three years. Finishing second place was Lauren Hitchner, who shot her personal best score of 43. Lauren finished her 9-hole round parring the last three holes. Julia Brackup and Phoebe O’Rourke both carded a 45 which earned them a fifth and sixth place finish, respectively. Since they posted the same score, the tie-breaker was determined by matching cards. Also competing was Angelina Guan who posted a 50. Adding the NJ Prep State title to the MAPL Championship title and a 9-0 match record caps a perfect season for the 2011 Blair girls’ golf team.
