Field Hockey Back on Track With 5-2
Win
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – Lara Bucarey
scored two goals and had one assist as the University of Rochester
defeated Vassar, 5-2, on Saturday afternoon.
The win evens the
Yellowjacket record at 1-1 in the Liberty League. Rochester
is 7-3 overall.
Christi Bottcher, Anna Dobrzynski, and
Allison Beardsley also scored for the Yellowjackets. Bottcher
and Laura Chess had single assists.
Jessie Albert and Jessica
Lance scored the Vassar goals, each set up by passes from
Maura McCarthy.
Bucarey and Bottcher scored less than
three minutes apart in the first half (Bottcher at 13:48, Bucarey
at 16:03) as Rochester forged ahead, 2-0. McCarthy’s
pass found Lance for a Vassar goal at 16:52, pulling the
Brewers within 2-1 before halftime.
Bucarey made it 3-1 at
36:46, set up by Bottcher. Albert completed a give-and-go
with McCarthy at 50:36 to get it down to 3-2 for Vassar.
Dobrzynski knocked home a Chess pass from a scrum in the
middle of the circle at 57:35 and Beardsley completed the
scoring at 66:41 with a shot from the center after Bucarey’s
pass.
Danielle Pearson made four saves for
the Yellowjackets. Taylor Herman had a dozen saves for Vassar.
Rochester held a 23-9 shot advantage while Vassar led in penalty
corners, 12-9.
