About the Coaches
Penn (Graves) Lunger teaches English
and serves as the head coach of the girls’ varsity soccer
team at Blair Academy. After attending St. Andrew’s School
in Delaware, she played Division I soccer at Davidson College
from 1998-2001. During her senior year she served as a co-captain
and was named Most Valuable Player. She earned a BA from Davidson
and recently earned a MA from the Bread Loaf School of English.
Before taking over the head coaching position at Blair, she
served as assistant varsity coach of the Blair team for six
years and as the head varsity girls’ coach at St. Andrew’s
School for two years. She lives on campus with her husband
Eric and also coaches girls’ varsity basketball.
Assistant coaches Kara McCabe and Stacey Spring also bring a wealth of soccer knowledge to the program. Coach McCabe played four years of soccer at Colby College and also served as head coach at St. Stephen’s and St. Agnes School in Washington, D.C.
After playing her college soccer at Middlebury College, Coach Spring began her coaching career with the soccer program at the Peddie School. As head coach at Blair from 2002-2009, she played a pivotal role in strengthening the Blair side. She now serves as the goalkeeping coach for both the girls’ and boys’ teams.
