1/18 - Blair 5 - Hackley 2
The Blair girls varsity squash team went to Hackley School and won!
Phoebe O'Rourke won her match leading the Blair girls to victory. Julia Brackup won her match with confidence as usual. Nghi Nguyen, San Tripathi and Hannah DeClerq also won demonstrating great confidence and good squash skills. Lauren Hitchner, not in her best shape, lost her match despite great efforts. Manuela Perez won her match in three games playing her usual extraordinary squash.
1/17 - Blair 7 - Brearley 2
The Blair Academy varsity girls squash team welcomed the Brearley girls squash team this past Saturday. Blair started with some essential victories by Samantha Kall and Phoebe O'Rourke. Many more victories soon followed. Phoebe, Haley San Giacomo, San Tripathi and Hannah DeClercq beat their opponents easily in three games. Julia Brackup played some very hard games, and persevered through five games to secure her victory. Then Hannah Declerq showed some excellent ball skills on the court, as well as awesome sportsmanship, leading to her winning the match. Lauren Hitchner lost her match after a tough battle against her opponent. Manuela Perez was defeated after an extremely difficult match in which she showed no mercy.
1/14 - Blair 5 - Mercersburg 4
The Blair girls varsity squash team welcomed the Mercersburg girls for a great battle. Rebecca Hargis played number nine for varsity, though she is usually a JV player. She lost after numerous efforts and a great match. Emma Moore won her match with confidence; she is still undefeated. Phoebe O'Rourke was victorious, showing her great abilities on the court. Julia Brackup easily won her match showing once more her great squash skills. Nghi Nguyen demonstrated good sportsmanship and won in three games. Haley San Giacomo was defeated in three games despite her great effort. San Tripathi lost her game although she fought for each point. Hannah DeClercq was defeated although she had a great attitude and never gave up. Manuela Perez, Blair's number one player, played a difficult match and won after four intense games.
1/12 - Blair 4 - Pingry 3
The Blair varsity girls' squash team welcomed Pingry girls for great matches. Julia Brackup easily won her match showing once more her great squash skills. Nghi Nguyen also easily won her match, gaining more confidence as she plays. Haley San Giacomo beat her opponent in three short games showing strength and confidence. Nadiarose El-Erian lost her match, not playing her best due to sickness. Hannah DeClercq was defeated after a five-game match demonstrating her will to win. Manuela Perez, Blair's number one player, played a difficult match and was defeated after five long games.
1/11 - Blair 2 - Lawrenceville 7
The Blair varsity girls went to Lawrenceville on Wednesday. Phoebe O'Rourke lost but after playing vigorously. Emma Moore confidently won her match. Following her victory, Julia Brackup also won against her opponent. Nigh Nguyen lost her match but only after a tough fight. Haley San Giacomo lost but she put all her efforts in her game in a great match. Hannah DeClerq strongly fought her opponent and lost after a hard battle. Lauren Hitchner, although sick, played with effort but was defeated. Mannie Perez battled fiercely her opponent and lost only by a small margin. It was a great meeting and we all enjoyed a playing Lawrenceville girls.
12/10 - Blair 7 - Hackley 2
On Saturday, Blair Squash faced the Hackley school in interesting matches. The girls won 7-2 with confidence. Emma Moore won her match 3-0 confidently leading the Blair girls to victory. Nghi Nguyen won her tough match 3-1 continuing on her path of a successful squash career. Julia Brackup also won her match in four games, and pleased the spectators with very nice shots. Haley San Giacomo fought a very strong opponent and lost after five long games. We congratulate her for her perseverance! San Tripathi also fought a tough opponent, always keeping her head in the game. She lost after a very long and impressive match. Nadiarose El-Erian confidently won her match 3-0, showing all at the squash courts her strength and power. Hannah DeClerq had a very hard match and took the lead after some great shots. Lauren Hitchner, also won her game 3-0 showing her great squash abilities in all circumstances. Finally, Manuela Perez, the number one player, won her match 3-0, pleasing the spectators with her great squash and wrapping up the Blair Girls win over Hackley School.
12/7 - Blair 6 - Brearley 3
Blair girls travelled on Wednesday to the Harvard Club in New York City to play and beat the Brearley school. The team won 6-3 despite the long ride into the city and having to play more than half of their matches on non-standard courts. Thanks to the outstanding performance of the players at the bottom of the ladder, the top trio players were able to focus on their games, without pressure. Emma Moore started out with a confident 3-0 win immediately followed by San Tripathi's victory. Also, NadiaRose El-Erian gave the public a taste of her powerful game by winning 3-2 after being down 2-1. Haley San Giacomo and Julia Brackup also left the courts heads high, not giving a single game to their opponent. And, Nghi Nguyen, a freshman, won her first match. All the girls played with elegance and force, starting the season off with a great win against the Brearley School. |
