Bucs Go 3-0 at the NHSCA Festival of Wrestling This Past Saturday (January 12)
CORY PELTIER, JOE STANZIONE, GARRETT FREY AND AUSTIN ORMSBEE LED THE WAY
BUCS HEAD TO EASTON, PENN. THIS SATURDAY JANUARY 19 TO COMPETE IN THE NHSCA FINAL FOUR OF HIGH SCHOOL WRESTLING
Cory Peltier is a pinner…Cory Peltier is a winner. The 171 pounder excited fans in Pleasant Valley, Penn. Saturday January 12 when he scored three pins in a total time of 3:68 at the NHSCA Festival of Wrestling, where 52 teams across the country squared off in dual meet competition. Buccaneer teammat es Joe Stanzione (130 lbs.), Garrett Frey (135 lbs.) and Austin Ormsbee (140 lbs.) also went 3-0. (Stanzione had wins of Pin, 10-4, and 10-3.) These three athletes helped the overall effort of the Blair grapplers as they defeated Cincinnati Moeller (Ohio) 50-16, Wyoming Seminary (Penn.) 51-15, and Watchung Hills (N.J.) 65-6 to go 3-0 that day.
In addition to the above named Blair student-athletes who went 3-0, Evan Silver looked solid at 103 lbs. with two wins (one by fall); Sean Boyle had a major decision and a pin; Tony Buxton went 2-1 with wins of 8-0 and 3-2. Mario Mason is back in the lineup and showed the coaches that he is healthy by majoring his first opponent 11-3 and defeating a tough grappler from Wyoming Seminary by fall in under two minutes; Mason wrestled 152 lbs. Ben Krakower (189 lbs.) had two wins Saturday as did Adam Hogue at 160 lbs. and John Guzzo at 145 lbs. Hogue lost a tough overtime match to Trey Maserang of Moeller 7-5.
Steve Hanzlik and Anthony Lajara shared responsibilities at 215 lbs. and each brought home a victory. Jesse Shanaman wrestled one match and made it count by winning by fall. Kyle Hanson sealed the dual win for the Bucs over Cincinnati Moeller with a pin at 3:59 at HWT.
“We wrestled well here in Pleasant Valley, and I am happy the way the day turned out. We competed hard and will be ready for the NHSCA Final Four Duals this weekend,” said Jeff Buxton, Blair Head Coach. “Wrestling Easton is always a challenge, and we are ready for this year’s battle, which will take place at 2:00 p.m. this Saturday at Easton.”
FINAL FOUR INFO:
The Seventh Annual Final Four of High School (a NHSCA event) will take place at Easton High School on Saturday, January 19. Blair will wrestle Colonial Forge (Va.) in the 10:00 a.m. match…they will then hit Eastside (South Carolina) at noon before closing out with Easton (Penn.) at 2:00 p.m.
