Blair
Announces College Choices for Class of 2005
NUMBER ONE RANKED FREY CHOOSES CORNELL; TAYLOR HEADS TO MARYLAND,
GALANTE TO LEHIGH
Adam Frey, the #1 ranked 130-pounder in the USA has chosen the
college for which he will compete... and it is Cornell University
of Ithaca, New York. Frey will wrestle either 133 lbs. or 141lbs.
in college. The double place winner in Fargo and National Prep
Tournament Champion is a top-10 recruit who will be expected to
make an immediate impact for the Cornell Big Red. Hudson Taylor,
the #4-ranked 189-pounder in the USA has picked the University
of Maryland. Taylor will be coached by ex-Blair man Pat Santoro,
who is now at the helm of an up-and-coming Maryland program.
Coach Santoro is perfect for Hudson as Hudson will appreciate
coach Santoros tactics and precise technique. Hudson is also
looking forward to participating in the Terps Theatre Program,
Coach Buxton said.
Next
up is the bull: Mike Galante; Galante has committed to Lehigh
University where he is slated to wrestle for the Hawks at 157
lbs. Galante is strong and placed 3rd in freestyle at the Asics/Vaughn
Jr. Nationals this past summer. Look for good things from this
inspired athlete, who was also a cadet national finalist. Hes
a worker and will do damage on the college scene.
Galante
is ready. He is making great strides in the room and I expect
him to be a multiple-time All-American in college, said Coach
Buxton. He is NCAA Champion material.
Ross
Gitomer, who placed 3rd at the National Prep Tournament and is
a cadet All-American will take his skills to Charlottesville,
Va., where he will compete for the University of Virginia. Gitomer
will be a 125-pounder and has a promising career awaiting him
at UVA. He has been working extremely hard in the Blair room and
is a very committed athlete.
Ross
has a tremendous work ethic and will add to the UVA room. Coach
Bernstein (UVA coach) will enjoy his aggressive style as he will
be a very solid 125-pounder, said Blair head coach, Jeff
Buxton.
Finally,
Andrew Coles has applied for early acceptance to The University
of Pennsylvania, where he will go at either 149 lbs. or 157 lbs.
Coles is coming off a solid summer and fall will add to the UPenn
team. Coles went 5-2 at the Jr. Nationals this past summer.
****Please
note that Adam Freys choice is based on early acceptance at Cornell.
