Frequently Asked Questions & Finance Report

What is the timeline for the campaign?
The leadership phase began in January 2002 after the Strategic Planning Committee of the Board of Trustees identified the School’s key priorities. So far, donors have contributed more than $30 million in capital gifts, pledges, planned gifts and Blair Fund contributions. Our goal is to raise $50 million by June 2009 to fulfill the objectives of the campaign.

How can I support Ever Always: The Campaign For Blair?
Most of Blair’s alumni, parents and friends will support the Campaign through participation in and increased support of the Blair Fund. All gifts to the Blair Fund count towards the campaign goal. Your gifts to the Blair Fund—combined with the gifts of many others—are the foundation of the School’s growing strength and enable us to move forward with these important goals.

What if I want to make a special contribution beyond my Blair Fund Gift?
More than 150 donors have already made Leadership gifts to the Campaign. Most have made unrestricted capital gifts in addition to their regular Blair Fund contributions; others have made restricted gifts to support specific projects such as the Activity and Athletic Center to establish a named scholarship. If you are interested in learning more about making a special gift to the campaign, please call Blair’s development office. We would be happy to talk to you. Gifts of cash, appreciated securities and real estate are some of the ways you can make a gift to the school. Click here for naming opportunities.

Do planned gifts and bequests count in the campaign?
Bequest intentions, gift annuities and planned gifts are excellent ways to participate in the Campaign at levels you may not ordinarily consider. All documented bequest intentions by donors over the age of 70 will count in our Campaign total. All irrevocable trust instruments count regardless of age. Click here for more information on planned giving.

What if I can’t make a large gift?
Every educational institution is the product of the broad and sustaining support of many alumni, parents and friends over long periods of time. Your stewardship and commitment to Blair are evidenced by the fact that you care enough to make a contribution in support of students and faculty. We are a great school because so many people participate, volunteer and believe in Blair’s mission and its future.

How are volunteers helping with the Campaign?
Much of the success of the campaign is the result of an increasingly active and expanded network of alumni and parent volunteers. Beyond the Capital Campaign Steering Committee, there are more than 110 class representatives, 30 members of the 1848 Society Committee and 40 Parent Fund Group Volunteers, all of whom are actively supporting Blair’s fundraising efforts.
