Capital Giving  |  Blair’s Endowment

Capital Fund

Major Capital gifts are allocated toward the endowment fund or for physical plant projects. These contributions enrich the lives of students and faculty through scholarships, faculty support, capital building programs and other funds to support Blair’s needs.

Here are a few examples of how donors have chosen to support Blair with a Capital Gift. If you would like more information on Capital Giving, please contact:

Faculty Support
Named Teaching Chair – Minimum gift: $500,000

Named Teaching Chairs recognize and honor the extraordinary contributions of senior faculty members with a minimum of ten years’ career teaching experience. Recipients will be known as the holder of the Named Chair in all Blair communications, in addition to the tradition of receiving a chair and framed citation.

Named Teaching Fellowship – Minimum gift: $250,000
Named Teaching Fellowships nurture, recognize, and retain the most promising young instructors, ensuring a consistently high level of excellence among the Blair faculty. Fellowships awarded to junior faculty members assist in providing them with adequate support.

Named Faculty Development Fund – Minimum gift: $100,000
A minimum of $100,000 is required to establish and endow a named faculty development fund, the income from which will go to support faculty members’ classroom teaching, academic study, and professional development. While such support generally tends to be used by faculty members during the summer months, it may also be awarded for other opportunities such as conferences and training programs during the academic year.

Scholarship Support
Named Scholarship – Minimum gift: $100,000

Donors of gifts of $100,000 or more, designated for scholarship support, will be recognized with a scholarship in their name or in a name(s) designated by the donor. A number of previous donors have chosen to honor parents, spouses, or children with named scholarships. Each year the donor will receive a thank you letter from the recipient of the scholarship and may also have the opportunity to meet him or her in person.

Blair Endowed Scholarship Fund – No minimum gift
One of the most needed and appreciated gifts a donor can make to Blair is a gift to the School’s endowed scholarship fund. Income from this endowment fund is distributed annually to students who would otherwise be unable to attend Blair without the support provided by the School’s scholarship program.

Other Support
Named Department Fund – Minimum gift: $50,000

Donors may choose to establish and endow a named fund to support the work of a specific academic department or extracurricular area within the School. The amount required depends upon the particular needs and expenses of that department or extracurricular area. These gifts may be pledged over a two-year period.

Memorial Gift Fund – Minimum gift: $25,000
Donors may establish an undesignated endowed gift fund to honor a person of their choice. Each year the names of those funds will be individually listed by name in the School’s Annual Report. These gifts must be paid in full at the time of the commitment.

Landscaping Gift – Minimum gift: $10,000
Donors may make a named landscaping gift to the School if it meets a current campus need identified by the School and provides the funding to meet the actual cost and upkeep of that gift as well as the installation of any memorial plaque. Such gifts shall be counted as a designated Blair Fund gift, and donors must agree that their gift may be altered or moved if future campus expansion or renovations requires such alterations.
