Add Blair To Your Estate Plans
If you wish to include Blair as part of your estate planning, you may do so simply by naming Blair as a beneficiary under your Will or Revocable Living Trust, as the case may be. However, if your present planning documents are otherwise in place, you may also wish to consider the expedient of adding to either document a brief Codicil or Amendment to the same effect. For illustration, here are two examples for incorporation in one's Will, or words to similar effect in that person's Trust:
Example 1:
I give and bequeath to Blair Academy, of Blairstown, New Jersey, the cash sum of_____dollars [or substitute specific shares of stock or other property], for such needs of the Academy as its Board of Trustees may determine.
Example 2:
I give, devise and bequeath to Blair Academy, of Blairstown, New Jersey, an amount equivalent to _____ percent of the balance of my residuary estate, for such needs of the Academy as its Board of Trustees may determine.
Of course, you are also free to make any gifts to Blair in memory or in honor of any person(s) of your choice or for such more specific purposes as you believe would be helpful to Blair and would blend in with the Academy's ongoing strategic planning. If so, we urge you to call or write to Monie Hardwick, Director of Development, so that any and all of your questions in this regard may be fully explored and answered to your satisfaction.
