Blair College Counseling:
A Brief Perspective

At the heart of the Blair experience is the commitment to the development of the whole person. To this end, we believe that college counseling at Blair should be part and parcel of this overall development. Such issues as character, moral development, mutual respect, and tolerance should be as seen by our seniors as just as important as their GPA’s, SAT’s, and AP scores. We hope that the college “process” for every Blair senior will be more an experience in self-realization and less a frantic rush to one’s preferred college destination. To the best of our ability, then, we try to do with our students what we claim—to provide effective and helpful counseling within the greater scope of the Blair experience. Our hope is that each student finds the college process to be a fitting closure to a bigger, more important high school experience.

Such details as the Class of ’07 Matriculation List and SAT averages tell an important story, but not the only one. First and foremost, we remain committed to providing the best possible college counseling experience for our seniors.

Sincerely,
Lewis M. Stival
Dean of College Counseling
