FACULTY HOUSING
Without question, outstanding teachers are Blair’s most valuable asset. The close relationships that develop between teachers and students are the very heart of the Blair experience. One of the best ways to support Blair’s faculty in their day-to-day work with students is to provide quality dormitory housing, and a generous Blair family has challenged the School community to help meet
this important need.
The goal is to raise $1 million for faculty apartment renovation and complete the work in three summers. To accomplish this ambitious objective, the family will match dollar-for-dollar all gifts made by December 31, 2011, in support of the project until the $1 million total is reached!
NAMING OPPORTUNITIES: $50,000
Gifts of $50,000 and above will be recognized with a plaque in a designated apartment.
- Name an apartment in honor of an influential faculty member
- Name an apartment in honor of one’s family
- Name an apartment in honor or memory of a loved one
Gifts of any amount provide support for faculty housing.
Extensive renovations to seven faculty dormitory apartments were completed this past summer. The faculty families who moved in at the start of the new school year were delighted with the new kitchens, bathrooms, appliances, flooring and paint colors that greeted them. Click here to read more.

BLAIR
SCHOLARS PROGRAM
Minimum Gift: $1 Million
Donors of gifts of $1 million or
larger, designated for scholarship support,
may choose to establish a Scholars Program
in their name or in a name designated
by the donor. The establishment of a
named scholars program allows multiple
students to be named recipients of scholarship
aid, which is provided through the generosity
of the donor’s gift. Students,
who are chosen as recipients of the named
donor’s scholars program, shall
thereafter be designated as named scholars,
and they will carry this designation
throughout their time at Blair as long
as they remain qualified and deserving
recipients.
BLAIR ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP
Minimum Gift: $100,000
Donors of gifts of $100,000 or larger, designated
for scholarship support, will be recognized with
a scholarship in their name or in a name designated
by the donor. Previous donors have chosen to
honor parents, spouses, or children with named
scholarships. Each year, recipients of named
scholarships write to the donor to report on
their Blair experience. During
the course of the recently completed Ever Always
Campaign, 12 new named scholarships were established.
ENDOWED TEACHING CHAIR
Minimum Gift: $1,000,000
Named teaching chairs recognize and honor the
extraordinary contributions of senior faculty members
who have a minimum of ten years’ career teaching
experience. Recipients will be known as the holder
of the named chair in all Blair communications,
in addition to the tradition of receiving a chair
and framed citation. During
the course of the recently completed Ever Always
Campaign, two new endowed teaching chairs were
established.
ENDOWED TEACHING FELLOWSHIP
Minimum Gift: $500,000
Named teaching fellowships provide funds that nurture, recognize, and
retain the most promising young instructors, ensuring a consistently
high level of excellence among the Blair faculty.
ENDOWED FACULTY DEVELOPMENT
FUND
Minimum Gift: $100,000
A gift of $100,000 or larger will establish and endow a named faculty
development fund, the income from which supports the classroom teaching,
academic study, and professional development of the faculty. During
the course of the recently completed Ever Always Campaign, one new teaching
development fund was established.
ENDOWED DEPARTMENT/PROGRAM
FUND
Minimum Gift: $50,000
A gift of $50,000 or larger will establish a named department or program
fund, the income from which will support that academic department or
extracurricular area.
Donors wishing to support
scholarship aid or faculty enrichment may also
make gifts of any amount restricted for these purposes.
