News & Events 2005-2006 “Paintings” by Sallie Bo Andrews on Display
Art by Sallie Bo Andrews will be on display from February 6 through March 11 in the Romano Gallery of the Armstrong-Hipkins Center for the Arts at Blair Academy. An opening reception is scheduled for February 9, 7-8 p.m., with an artist’s reception on February 12, 2-4 p.m.
Andrews noted, “I paint what I observe. Whether in the landscape or in the studio, I am looking for the unifying rhythm that presents itself in nature. Finding this rhythm through space and time, the act of looking becomes the struggle to push through the fragmentary into a more expanded whole.”
Born and raised in Greensboro, N.C., Andrews received her B.A. in art history from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She also studied at the New York Studio School for Drawing, Painting, and Sculpture, as well as at the International School of Art in Italy. After visiting the Delaware Water Gap area in the summers to paint landscapes, she moved there permanently in 1994.
She has participated in numerous one-person and group shows in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and North Carolina.
The Romano Gallery is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday; Saturday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.; other hours by appointment. For more information on this exhibit, please call (908) 362-6121. Posted 2/2/06
