Artistic Accomplishments

Fine Arts Department Chair Rita Baragona is pleased to report the following: Blair students took home many prizes as a result of their participation in the Warren County division of the Congressional Student Art Competition. Arlana Egan ’07 won first place for her “Shell” in colored pencil, JP Bowditch ’08 won second for his “Self-portrait” in oils and Rachel Tarrats ’06 won third for her “Abused Children on the Porch” in oils. Entered were those New Jersey students who qualified, including Emily Catalano ’07, Hannah Kirkpatrick ’07, Erik Wilburn ’06, Mary Casella ’06, Tallerie Thurgood ’08, Kathy Kim ’06 and Lauren Weinstein ’06.

The work was on display and awards were presented in May at Warren County Community College. Arlana’s work went on to the next round of judging, in which she won second place. She will now represent New Jersey in an exhibit in Congress in Washington, D.C., with her work displayed in U.S. Congressman Scott Garrett’s office. Posted 5/30/06
