J.Y. Song Presents Bartow Performance

Pianist J.Y. Song was the featured performer in the Bartow Series of programs on November 30. A 1994 nominee for Pro Piano Artist of the Year, Song has built a reputation as a musician with broad and idiosyncratic musical tastes. Her recordings have received rave reviews in the international press, including a Diapason d’Or in 2001 and a “Desert Island Selection” from Gramophone for her recording of the Debussy Etudes.

Song’s Liszt/Busoni CD was called “superb” by Diapason and “terrific” by BBC Music Magazine. Numerous awards include Julliard’s highest award to a pianist, the 1996 Petschek Award, the first ever Christel Award in 1999, making possible an innovative music video of the Liszt Totentanz, and the 1999 Pro Musicis International Award.
