Blair Receives Four Freddy Nominations

The Freddy Awards, presented by The State Theatre in Easton, Pa., honor high school musical theatre in the Lehigh Valley and Warren County, N.J. This awards program is designed to recognize and reward exceptional accomplishments in the production and performance of musical theatre in local high schools. Blair Academy has been nominated in four categories in 2006, including Outstanding Performance by a Featured Ensemble Member (How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying/Meg Fry ’06); Outstanding Lighting Design (How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying); Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role (How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying/Todd Lewis ’08) and Outstanding Overall Production by a Smaller School (How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying).

The Freddy Awards are named after the supposed ghost of the State Theatre who is believed to be that of a former employee. The winners will be announced on May 25 at a ceremony at the State Theatre and will be televised live on WFMZ CHANNEL 69. According to the theatre’s Web site, “The ceremony is fashioned after Broadway’s Tony Awards. A panel of experienced evaluators will view participating schools’ performances and critique various categories such as acting, singing, lighting, set design, etc… Nominations were made in 18 award categories from all participating schools. These nominees will be our honored guests at the gala awards ceremony.”

Stay tuned for the results later this month. Posted 5/15/06
