News & Events 2005-2006 With Great Sadness, Blair Headmaster Announces
the Death of Kurt Socha
Mr. T. Chandler Hardwick, Headmaster of Blair Academy (Blairstown, NJ) announced the death of Kurt Socha on Tuesday afternoon, November 15, 2005, to the School community. Mr. Raymond Socha, Kurts father, confirmed Kurts passing.
Kurt, a Blair senior, captain of the Blair football team and a Blairstown resident, was gravely injured, Saturday, October 29th as the varsity home game against the Hill School (Pottstown, PA) was nearing its conclusion. The game was called when the seriousness of his injury became apparent; Kurt was taken by helicopter to Morristown Memorial Hospital (Morristown, NJ). Once at the hospital, Kurt underwent surgery, Mr. Hardwick reported, but sadly he never regained consciousness. He had been in a coma since that time. Mr. Hardwick added, the entire Blair community extends its condolences to the Socha family who have so heroically worked with the School and our students on behalf of Kurt during this tragic time.
A memorial service to celebrate Kurt’s life will be held in the spring of 2006.
