Teacher Receives Award from Kiwanis

At a recent School Meeting, The Kiwanis Club Lt. Gov. William Walters presented Wayne Rasmussen, math teacher and theatre technical director (right), with its Kiwanis Stage Crew Award – including a $1,000 prize – in conjunction with the State Theatre’s Freddy Awards.

In May, the Blair Academy Players were awarded two Freddy Awards by the State Theatre in Easton, Pa., for their production of “42nd Street.” According to Craig Evans, chair of the performing arts department, the Players, nominated in six categories, tied for the Freddy Award for Outstanding Set Design with William Allen High School and won the Freddy outright for Outstanding Stage Crew. The Stage Crew Freddy carried with it a $1,000 prize for Technical Achievement given on behalf of the Kiwanis Club.
