Private and Public High School Musicians “Band” Together to “Rock” and Raise Hurricane Relief Funds

On Saturday, October 29, student rock bands from three different New Jersey high schools – public and private – came together on the Blair Academy campus and raised $2,600 for hurricane relief efforts on the Gulf Coast.

Performing were The Tracks – headliners and concert organizers – a four-piece band from Blair Academy, along with openers Streetlights from North Warren Regional High School in Blairstown and The Pidgeons from Princeton Day School in Princeton.

A spokesman for the bands noted, “After the devastation of Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Rita, all three groups were eager to find a way to help make a difference. With a few phone calls to some friends, The Tracks were able to put together the lineup with relative ease. The administration at Blair Academy jumped behind the idea right away, with faculty and students alike offering to donate their time and energies to the project. Plans are currently underway for a second concert to be held at the Princeton Day School later in the fall, with a date to be announced shortly. The show is open to the public. Students and adults are invited to come out and enjoy a night of great music together for a fantastic cause.”

All profits from ticket sales were donated to hurricane relief efforts.
