The Blair Academy Players presented “How to Succeed In Business Without Really Trying” in the DuBois Theatre of the Armstrong-Hipkins Center for the Arts in February. Director Craig Evans described the production: Power, sex, ambition, greed... it’s just another day at the office. From the authors of “Guys and Dolls” comes one of the most delightfully irreverent musicals of all time. A satire of big business and all it holds sacred, “How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying” follows the rise of J. Pierrepont Finch (played by sophomore Dylan Evans), who uses a little handbook to climb the corporate ladder from lowly window washer to high-powered executive, tackling such familiar but potent dangers as the aggressively compliant “company man” (played by freshman Michael Breslin), a tyrannical boss (played by senior James Hinton), the boss’ whiny nephew (played by sophomore Todd Lewis), the office party, backstabbing co-workers, caffeine addiction and, of course, true love.
Characters helping and hindering Finch’s ride are smitten secretary Rosemary (played by junior Emma Small), and her assistant Smitty (played by senior Meg Fry), the boss’s mistress Hedy (played by junior Gaby Zlocki), and the voice of the book, senior Sarah Pearson. The student director of the show is senior Kathy Kim. Photos added 2/16/06
