History Students Participate in Model UN

A group of 25 Blair students, along with three history teachers, joined 2,000 delegates from other schools at the Model UN Conference in Philadelphia in late January. Faculty member Marty Miller reports that over the course of four days, the students represented Serbia, Cyprus and the Czech Republic, serving on such committees as legal, disarmament, humanitarian, NATO, etc.

Among the wide variety of issues discussed were the Angolan civil war of the 1970s, nuclear proliferation, refugee issues and the Chinese economy. During their visit to the city, these current Blair students had the opportunity to meet some alumni attending the University of Pennsylvania, including Tim Bacon ’06, Rollie Peterkin ’06, Kiley Austin-Young ’06 and John Kruse ’05.
