The Blair Academy Players performed David Auburn’s Pulitzer- and Tony Award-winning play Proof on April 30, May 2 and 3, in the DuBois Theater of Armstrong-Hipkins Center for the Arts.

The New York Daily News says Proof “…combines elements of mystery and surprise with old-fashioned storytelling to provide a compelling evening of theatre…[Proof is a] smart and compassionate play of ideas.” Catherine (Tina Tozzi) has spent all of her young adult life caring for her brilliant but mentally ill father Robert (Dylan Evans), a famous, cutting-edge mathematician. Emotions bubble to the surface during a long weekend that finds Catherine’s concerned but estranged sister Claire (Taylor McKay) in town, and Robert’s former student Hal (Michael Richards) around the house searching for break-through mathematics in the 103 notebooks that contain Robert’s work. What follows is an examination of the complexities of familial and romantic love, as well as the relationship between genius and madness. Proof was student-directed by Spencer Eckis.
