Buddhist Monk Visits Blair
The Blair community hosted a visitor for several days last month – Kelsang Dorjee – a Buddhist monk who is a friend of faculty members Quint Clarke ’87 and Chris Cogswell. Quint explains, “Kelsang was born in Tibet but emigrated to India at age five after the Chinese takeover. He has spent his adult years working with Tibetan refugees in Dharamsala, India, and teaching Buddhism and meditation in Kathmandu, Nepal. He is a full monk and wears the Buddhist robes everywhere. Kelsang currently lives in Dharamsala, home of the Dalai Lama. While here, he answered questions in Chaplain Cindy Crowner’s world religion class and spent some time visiting with Chris and me. We are hoping that he can come back in a few weeks and visit again.”
