May Events Lead to Commencement Day

Graduation time is near, with a variety of exciting events and programs leading up to that special day for seniors and their families. Below is a schedule of happenings, as well as information on Gruber Photographers; parents may contact this company to purchase photos documenting the full array of Commencement Week events.

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS FOR SENIORS – MAY 19-22, 2008
Monday, May 19
10:15 am SPRING ATHLETIC AWARDS ASSEMBLY (required for all students)
3:15 pm GRADUATION REHEARSAL (required for all seniors)
3:30 pm Grades are due for any senior who has failed a course.
5:00 pm SENIOR PRIZE ASSEMBLY (formal... required for all students)
Tuesday, May 20
  SENIOR EXAMS IF NECESSARY – The JUNIOR/SENIOR PROM at Macaluso’s in Hawthorne, N.J. Watch for a separate letter bringing details.
Wednesday, May 21
  Senior Packing Day. Senior exams, as needed.
2:30 pm SENIORS vs. FACULTY Softball game
5:00 pm CLASS OF 2008 ASSEMBLY... Accomplishments and Reflections...
Class of ’08 in Armstrong-Hipkins Center for the Arts
6:00-7:00 pm RECEPTIONS in Senior Dorms
5:45-7:45 pm Buffet Supper in the Romano Dining Room for Seniors, Guests and Faculty
8:00 pm Seniors assemble in front of Timken Library
8:15 pm Seniors process across campus
8:30 pm BACCALAUREATE at the Blairstown Presbyterian Church
10:00-Midnight SENIOR DANCE (Bogle Patio)
Thursday, May 22
8:00-9:00 am Breakfast
9:30-10:30 am COFFEE at Sharpe House for Parents and Faculty...
Seniors pick up flowers & boutonnieres from Mrs. Hardwick at Sharpe House
10:30 am Faculty and Seniors assemble in front of Timken Library
11:00 am COMMENCEMENT on Sharpe House Lawn, rain or shine
12:15-1:30 pm COMMENCEMENT LUNCHEON... Marcial Field
4:00 pm Graduates depart

DRESS REQUIREMENTS:
For THE SENIOR PRIZE ASSEMBLY, the CLASS OF 2007 ASSEMBLY and BACCALAUREATE, dress is as it is for evening meals during school – coat, tie and socks for boys... dresses or skirts for girls.

For COMMENCEMENT, boys wear blue blazers, gray slacks, white shirts and conservative ties (and appropriate footwear, including socks!). Girls wear long or mid-calf pastel or white dresses and appropriate shoes.

HANDICAPPED SEATING:
Any needs for special assistance regarding seating should be directed to Mr. Lew Stival, Commencement Coordinator.

ATTENTION SENIORS AND PARENTS:
Gruber Photographers of New York City have captured in picture Blair’s 160th Commencement exercises, which can be accessed through the following website: www.pictage.com/476965, and the Event Key is Bucs.

The full array of pictures from The Class of ’08 Assembly, The Senior Dinner, Baccalaureate, Coffee at the Headmaster’s Home, Commencement, the Luncheon, and various other candids are scheduled for a June 22 release.
