| News & Events 2007-2008 Faculty Art Show at Peck School
Art teacher Rita Baragona exhibits her paintings at a show entitled, “In the Light of Flowers,” at the Peck School (Lindenwald building) this month, with an artist’s reception on September 23 from 3 to 5 pm.
Rita notes, “My flower and garden paintings colors act upon each other, creating light. Connecting energy and matter, the sensation of inner joy surrounds the viewer.”
Jed Perl wrote in Art in America, “What a nature painter must do is to impose some human logic or private poetry on the natural world. By this measure, Baragona is a very interesting painter.” Jed Perl in the New Criterion, wrote, “In Baragona’s work, flower painting becomes a metaphor for painting itself, color-as-form.”
Rita has exhibited widely in the United States, including 12 one-person shows at the Bowery Gallery in New York City. She grew up in Morris Plains, where in her youth she was a junior counselor at Peck School Day Camp. Currently she lives near the Delaware Water Gap.
The Peck School is located at 247 South Street, Morristown, New Jersey. For more information, please call (973) 539-8660.
