Art Teacher’s Still Life Work on Display in Connecticut

The works of art teacher Rita Baragona will be featured in the Washington Art Association’s exhibit of still life pieces, “The Allure of the Object,” now through Sunday, May 31, at the gallery in Bryan Memorial Plaza, Washington Depot. The show also feature the works of eight other still life artists, including Rachel Chodorov, Ruth Miller, Paula Heisen, Richard La Presti, Temma Bell, Nancy Flanagan, Vincent Giarrano and Bernard Chaet.

Rita studied at New York University, the New York Studio School and Carnegie Mellon University, where she received her bachelor’s degree. She has exhibited her work in galleries throughout New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and elsewhere, and is included in the Rider University Collection and the Bryn Mawr University Collection.

She said, “Underlying the imagery of my paintings is a felt connection with aspects of natural structures, color vibrations and rhythmic forces. I hope the viewer will see the relationship of energy to matter and the luminance of color.”

Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday, and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. For more information, please call (860) 868-2878 or visit www.washingtonartassociation.org
