In
January, the NBC-TV morning Today Show sent a producer
to campus as part of a segment focused on CitySquash, including
Blair’s own Manuela Perez ’12, one
of its participants last year. The segment aired at 8:50 a.m.
(EST), Friday, February 27.
CitySquash, a free squash program for Bronx, N.Y., youngsters, was the focus of an article by Tanyanika Samuels of the Daily News (N.Y) in September , 2008. Samuels wrote, “CitySquash is more than just learning squash, the fast-paced indoor racket sport. A lot of focus is placed on tutoring, mentoring and community service. Students attend three-hour sessions up to four times per week. They spend half the time being tutored, and the other half practicing for tournaments, which typically take place on weekends.”
