Fall All School Vespers Features Guest Preacher
The
Fall All School Vespers on October 10 in the First Presbyterian
Church of Blairstown featured guest preacher Michael L. Lindvall.
Rev.
Lindvall was raised in small-town Minnesota and the Upper
Peninsula of Michigan. A graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh
and Princeton Theological Seminary, he currently serves as
the pastor of the Brick Presbyterian Church in New York City.
He has previously served as pastor to congregations in Ann
Arbor, Michigan and Northport, Long Island. He is a writer
whose essays, book reviews, sermons and fiction have appeared
in a variety of church-related and secular periodicals. He
has written two novels, The Good News from North Haven and
Leaving North Haven, both currently published by Crossroad/Carlisle
Books.
Rev. Lindvall recently completed two
new books, a volume of accessible theology entitled A Geography
of God, published by Westminster/John Knox Press and What
Did Jesus Do? – A
Crash Course on His Life and Times, published by Sterling Press.
An avid reader, sailor and motorcyclist, he is married to Terri
Vaun Smith, a kindergarten teacher and artist. They have three
children – Madeline, a television producer in New York;
Benjamin, a New York musician and music producer; and Grace,
a sophomore at the University of Michigan. The Lindvalls make
their home in Manhattan, but still spend summers on the shores
of Lake Michigan
