Blair Model UN Contingent Honored & Commended
A group of Blair students and history teachers attended the Columbia Model United Nations Conference and Exposition (CMUNCE) from January 15-18 in New York City. This annual four-day international affairs conference for high school students is one of the most successful Model UN experiences in the United States. According to the organization’s Web site, “CMUNCE is known for its original committees, intense crisis simulations, extraordinarily dedicated staff, and focus on introducing its delegates to both Columbia and to New York City.”
According to history teacher Dr. Marty Miller, who has accompanied the Blair delegation to Model UN for many years, “This is the best showing of any Blair group in many a moon! Lotte Lijnzaad ’09 and Zack Flaugher ’09 won outstanding/best delegate awards for their respective committees, while Stephen Patane ’09 and James Diddell ’09 received honorable mentions, and Roileigh Ollson ’09 and Neil Zimmermann ’10 received commendations at the closing ceremony.”
