Forty-Plus Years of True Dedication

After serving Blair Academy for over 40 years, Alma Costantino, administrative assistant to the dean of admission, recently announced her retirement. Prospective students and their families are first greeted by Alma in the Blair Room before commencing their tour of the campus or admission interview. The Blair community has since honored this beloved member of its “family” at the May 7 leadership dinner, as well as at School Meeting on May 14 – the last of the school year.

Dean of Admission Ryan Pagotto ’97, who well recalls meeting Alma when he first came here as a student, said, “Alma’s service to the School spans four decades and places her among its most loyal and tenured employees. Not one for recognition or fanfare, she requested that we not make a ‘big deal’ of her retirement.’ With all due respect to her wishes, I did warn her that there would inevitably be a modicum of celebration over the course of the coming months, since she has meant so much to so many people for such a long time.” He noted, too, that while Blair’s official hours of business are 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Alma is settled at her desk by 7:30 each morning, ready to put guests at ease and begin the daily tasks before her. Congratulations and best wishes, Alma!
