Blair Dancers Attend NYC Performance

A group of Blair dance students, accompanied by dance director Clarissa Newby-Phillips, traveled to New York City on October 11 for a performance of “Re-Generate by Dance Iquail! and the Von Howard Project, under the artistic direction of Iquail Shaheed and Christian von Howard. Billed as a celebration of the male choreographic voice, the program – presented at the Ailey Citigroup Theater – featured select works by other guest choreographers, including Germaul Barnes, Nicholas Leichter, Ray Mercer Christopher Ralph and Iquail Shaheed. Guest speakers were Dyane Harvey-Salaam and Aubrey Lynch.

Members of these two dance companies have performed with such companies as the Pennsylvania Ballet and the Kirov Academy of Ballet. For more information on both, check out their Web sites at www.danceiquail.org and www.vonhowardproject.com.
