Blair Philanthropists Recognized at Leadership Dinner
Retiring Staff and Faculty Honored

Headmaster Chan Hardwick thanked a group of the School’s most loyal supporters at the annual Leadership Dinner on May 7. In recognition of their generosity and commitment to the School, framed prints of the iconic Blair Arch were presented to Agnes and Norman Beatty ’58, Erik and Barbara Ryd P ’11, Dr. Stephanie M. Bennett-Smith P ’86 and Mr. Orin R. Smith, Philip Paulus ’44, Ellen L. and Archer N. Martin ’42, Mrs. Ralph N. Meerwarth ’50 and Tracy Meerwarth Pester, and Mrs. Selena T. Howard. Also honored, but unable to attend the dinner were Ann Mallouk, Ameline Pappas and W. Norman and Susan Scott P ’04 ’05. Blair scholarship recipients hosted the donors of their scholarships at the event, while student musical ensembles –under the direction of Jennifer Pagotto, chairman of Blair’s performing arts department – provided entertainment.

Chan also took the opportunity to recognize and thank retiring staff member Alma Costantino and faculty members Steven and Judith Kampmann. Alma has served as the assistant to the dean of admission for 40 years, greeting thousands of prospective students and parents with a warm smile from her desk in the Blair Room, while meticulously managing the day-to-day operations of the admission office. Steven and Judith Kampmann came to Blair in 1998 following successful Hollywood careers in writing, acting and directing. Steven, Blair’s writer-in-residence, has taught English, written and directed numerous short films as part of the after school video program, and served as monitor to post-graduate students; Judith has served as director of Blair’s video studies program.
