Skeptics Speaker Discusses Lincoln’s Rise to Presidency
Glenn LeBoeuf returned to Blair as a Society of Skeptics speaker on February 16, with a program entitled, “The Rise of Lincoln: 1831-1860.” LeBoeuf answered the question, “What series of incredible events, decisions, accidents and occurrences transpired to propel a poor yet brilliant and ambitious farm-boy to the presidency?” His program covered the true accounts of “the strange, winding road” that led Abraham Lincoln to the White House.
LeBoeuf is a life-long resident of New Jersey, received his degree in history from Monmouth University in 1976 and taught social studies in New Providence, N.J., from 1977-1979. A passionate student of history, Glenn was active in Civil War reenacting from 1989-2001and was one of the reenactor coordinators for the largest Civil War reenactment ever held, with over 23,000 reenactors near Gettysburg in 1998. Glenn participated in films such as Glory (1990) and Gettysburg (1993) and is a member of the Abraham Lincoln Association. For over 25 years, Glenn has given talks to historical societies, R.O.T.C. classes, adult schools, colleges, library associations and civic groups. In June 2007 he spoke at the prestigious Civil War Institute at Gettysburg College. He is a senior vice-president, financial advisor and chartered retirement planning counselor with Freedom Capital Management in Lincroft, N.J.
