Trustees Tour Arts Center Chinese Dancers Repeat Performance
Blair Academy Trustees were on campus
on January 22-23 for the winter Board meeting. On Friday, members
of the Education and School Life Committee were treated to
a tour of fine arts and performing arts classrooms and venues,
all housed within Armstrong-Hipkins Center for the Arts. The
Weber Fine Arts complex, as well as the Dubois Main Stage Theatre
and Wean (“black box”) Theatre were stops along
the way, as Trustees enjoyed meeting students involved in video,
ceramics, graphic arts, architecture, drawing, painting, photography,
music and drama. The Blair Academy Players presented a rehearsal
sketch of their winter musical, Once Upon a Mattress,
while the Orchestra performed several selections from its repertoire.
As a grand finale, a group of Chinese students recreated their
dance performance originally presented at School Meeting. View
video below.
Needless to say, the Trustees gained a greater appreciation for the arts at Blair, while students were eager to showcase their work, discussing their interests and goals with those who support and lead the School.
