Skeptics Program Focuses on Electoral Reform

On October 12, two past Blair parents – one of whom is also an alumnus – were the featured speakers at the Society of Skeptics program. John Skvarla and Bob Neff ’49 presented a program entitled, “Electoral Reform: The Case for Bonded Term Limits.” Mr. Skvarla is the founder of Alliance for Bonded Term Limits (ABTL). According to ABTL’s website, “The Alliance for Bonded Term Limits, Inc. seeks to explore and develop a process under which candidates for public office can assure constituents that they will work diligently in the public interest instead of building long careers rife with self-interest. We will provide a vehicle for sincere candidates to demonstrate their commitment to limited tenure in office by voluntarily bonding their term limit promise with personal assets in advance of the election. These bonded assets of substantial worth will be forfeited to charity only if their promise is broken.” A two-minute video is available for viewing at ABTL’s website, http://www.bondedtermlimits.org/.
