Students Compete in Poetry Out Loud
On Monday, January 9, six Blair students took to the stage to compete in the school-wide Poetry Out Loud recitation competition. As its website explains, “Poetry Out Loud is a program that encourages the nation’s youth to learn about great poetry through exploration, memorization, and performance.” Students select a poem to recite from the Poetry Out Loud anthology, participate in a school-wide competition, and the winner progresses to a regional or state competition which leads to the national finals.
This year’s winner was Megan Maher ’13. She goes on to compete in the regional finals on February 15 at the Mayo Performing Arts Center in Morristown, NJ.
