Registration Information for “Back to Blair”

Blair Academy’s 164th school year is upon us, with registration information listed below. We look forward to meeting new faces and welcoming back former students and families.

August 26: Pre-Season Registration: Football - those who have been invited to return early by Coach Stone. 10:00 a.m.
August 30 : Prefect Registration. 1:00-2:30 p.m.
August 31: Pre-Season Registration: Soccer, Field Hockey, Cross Country and
Girls’ Tennis - those invited by coaches. 8:30-11:30 a.m.
August 31: Parent Volunteer Group Meeting and Lunch
Time: 11:30 a.m. (noon lunch - RSVP requested)
Location: Tracy Conference Room
September 2: International Student Registration: 8:30-11:00 a.m.
September 2: Day Student Registration: 1:00-3:00 p.m.
September 5: Final Registration: 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

Pre-Season Football Registration
FRIDAY, AUGUST 26

Welcome! Please follow the steps outlined below

  1. Get your dorm assignment and parking instructions at entrance.
  2. Park … leave belongings in car.
  3. Check in with one of the coaches in the dorm who will instruct you regarding the morning schedule for unpacking, getting equipment, etc.
12:00-12:45 p.m. Lunch for athletes and parents…Romano Dining Hall
12:45 p.m. Meeting for players and parents with Mr. Hardwick, Blair’s Headmaster…in the Dining Room.
1:00-2:30 p.m. REGISTRATION…begin at the Health Center where you will be given your registration card.  Proceed to Clinton Hall to check forms, have I.D./Debit Card photo taken, get schedule, etc.  (If your registration card has not been approved by the Business Office, your first step after the Health Center must be at the Business Office on the bottom floor of Ivy Hall.)
2:45 p.m. Team Meeting (players) – Cowan Auditorium
3:45 p.m. Practice begins

PARENTS … PLEASE NOTEThere will not be general orientation/information meetings in dorms for parents today.   Parents of new day students are encouraged to return for a meeting with the Headmaster on Friday, September 2nd at 1:00 p.m. in Cowan Auditorium (Bogle Hall, our math/science building).  Parents of boarders who live nearby enough are encouraged to return for orientation meetings that begin in dormitories at 1:15 p.m. on Monday, September 5. And of course all parents are cordially invited to a reception at the Headmaster’s home between 3:00 and 4:00 p.m. on the 5th.


Prefect Registration
TUESDAY, AUGUST 30
1:00-2:30 p.m.

Welcome! As veterans, you know the drill! Please follow the steps outlined below:

  1. Park … leave belongings in car.
  2. PROCEED TO HEALTH CENTER WHERE YOU WILL BE GIVEN YOUR REGISTRATION CARD. You must keep this registration card with you through out the registration process.
  3. Proceed to Clinton Hall to check forms, have photo taken for ID/Debit Card, etc. (If your registration card has not been approved by the Business Office, your first step must be at the Business Office on the bottom floor of Ivy Hall.)
  4. Proceed to Blair Commons/Bookstore to get ID card, mailbox key and books. (Students MUST present course schedule in order to receive books.)
  5. Proceed to dormitory.

5:00 PM: PREFECT MEETING…ANNIE HALL COMMON ROOM
(Please bring a pen or pencil to meeting)

Parents of Prefects – Note that we don’t do much in terms of welcoming you today, in part because we know that you too know the routine. That said, we hope that you get the chance to say hello to your son or daughter’s housemaster, for they will be working closely together to manage the dorm. You are certainly welcome to return for orientation meetings that begin in dormitories at 1:15 p.m. on Monday, September 5. And of course all parents are cordially invited to a reception at the Headmaster’s home between 3:00 and 4:00 p.m. on the 5th.

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 31
8:30 – 11:30 a.m.

International Student Registration

STUDENTS AND PARENTS: The schedule which follows represents our attempt to combine business and pleasure in welcoming you (and welcoming you back) to Blair. New students and their parents are reminded that “veterans” are here as well; please don't hesitate to ask questions or to let us know how we can be of assistance in any way.

AT THE HEALTH CENTER YOU WILL GET A REGISTRATION CARD. YOU MUST KEEP THIS CARD WITH YOU THROUGHOUT THE REGISTRATION PROCESS IN ORDER TO GET YOUR COURSE SCHEDULE.

8:30-11:00 a.m. REGISTRATION

1:00 p.m. Any necessary math/science placement testing. (Bogle Hall)
2:00 p.m. Optional Shopping trip to Walmart and Target departs from the Arch …
return by 4:30 p.m.
2:00 – 5:00 p.m. Additional time for unpacking and settling into rooms.
5:00 p.m.

Optional trip to A&P (supermarket) and Ho Ho’s (Chinese food) leaves from the Arch.                       

5:15 – 6:15 p.m. DINNER in the Dining Hall (families welcome)
7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Cookout (American food and drinks) and tennis under the lights.  All welcome regardless of ability. Racquets and balls provided.
9:30 p.m. Dormitory Check-in
10:30 p.m. Lights out

Day Student Registration
FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 2
1:00 – 3:00 p.m.

Welcome! Please follow the steps outlined below:

  1. Get parking instructions at entrance.
    NEW DAY STUDENTS and their PARENTS are asked to meet with Mr. Hardwick at 1:00 p.m. in Dubois Theatre, Armstrong –Hipkins Center for the Arts.  You may register after this meeting.
  2. PROCEED TO HEALTH CENTER WHERE YOU WILL BE GIVEN YOUR REGISTRATION CARD. You must keep this registration card with you throughout the registration process in order to receive your course schedule.
  3. Proceed to Clinton Hall to check forms, have picture taken for ID/Debit Card, get
    Schedule, etc. (If your registration card has not been approved by the Business Office, your first step must be at the Business Office on the bottom floor of Ivy Hall.)

All day students are reminded to be at school on Monday, September 5 in time for a 4:00 P.M. meeting in Cowan Auditorium. Class Meetings, a meeting with the Headmaster, and a picnic supper will follow. They will be free to leave by 7:00 p.m. Casual attire is fine for the day.

MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 5

2:00 p.m. ALL PARENTS meet with the Headmaster in Dubois Theatre (Armstrong-Hipkins Center for the Arts)
2:00 p.m. Blue & White Key Tours of campus for new students, starting at the Admissions Office porch (you may want to bring your academic schedule with you).
3:00 – 4:00 p.m. All parents are invited to Sharpe House, the home of the Headmaster & Mrs. Hardwick, for light refreshments. Parents should plan to leave campus following this reception.
4:00 p.m. ALL DAY STUDENTS (including seniors) meet in Cowan Auditorium (Bogle Hall)
4:30 p.m.

ALL NEW STUDENTS meet with their Class Monitors immediately following the Class Meetings.  Monitors will lead new students to their meeting with the Headmaster.

5:30 - 6:30 p.m. Picnic Supper for all on campus (please wear your name tags)
