NYU Professor Randy White Speaks at Skeptics

On November 15, the Society of Skeptics welcomed Randy White, Ph.D. Dr. White is a Professor of Anthropology at New York University and a member of the Center for the Study of Human Origins. He lectured on “Chauvet, France: Man’s Earliest Cave Painting”.

Dr. White is one of the world’s leading specialists in the study of Paleolithic art and personal adornment. He was one of the first to recognize the evolutionary importance of personal adornment and its critical role in the organization and demographic expansion of modern humans. Currently, Dr. White leads an international team at abri Castanet, an ornament-rich, 33,000-year-old Aurignacian site in the Dordogne region of France. This research project, funded by the National Science Foundation, focuses on the recovery and dating of some of the oldest remains of symbolic behavior in Europe.

Please note that this Society of Skeptics lecture will be held in Armstrong-Hipkins Center for the Arts. It will begin at 7:00 p.m. All Skeptics programs are free and open to the public.
