Good Weekend for Sports Openers
Blair Spirit Thrives at Annual Soccerfest

The Annual Soccerfest began this past weekend, September 17, with 3rds, JV and Varsity Boys soccer travelling to the fields of friendly hometown rivalry North Warren Regional High School. With over 300 Blair spectators decorated in blue and white, Blair school spirit was second to none. Blair pride was strong after a 2-1 win from the JV team, and remained positive despite a Varsity and 3rds team loss.

Check back for more photos and an update on Soccerfest after the girls’ teams play at North Warren on September 24.

Girls and boys Cross Country kicked off the season at their traditional opening race, the Newark Academy Invitational, in Livingston, New Jersey. Eight schools, including Peddie, joined the Bucs in the 34th edition of the race. The Blair Varsity girls claimed the championship for the first time since 2008, and the boys’ Varsity squad placed a solid second.  Each JV squad also ran well, with seven girls placing in the top ten, and two JV boys recording varsity level times.

The Blair Football team won its season opener on Saturday over a strong Woodberry Forest team 28-21. It was a great game from start to finish with several big plays from both teams which made for an exciting afternoon in front of a big crowd at Hampshire Field.
