Fine Arts at Blair
When many students enter Blair Academy, they do not believe they possess any artistic talents or abilities, but at Blair, development of the whole individual is an integral part of education. Blair art teachers are also passionate artists, living the arts through their own work, which is on display in local galleries and in exhibitions in New York and elsewhere.
From introductory to advanced, art course offerings include everything from painting to drawing to ceramics, jewelry, printmaking and art history. For those who want to pursue art beyond Blair, the art department offers a rigorous course designed to allow students to develop a comprehensive portfolio. Excellent studios provide students with the space and equipment to work with a variety of media.
The campus has three art galleries which help foster the strong artistic talents at Blair Academy. The Romano Gallery, located in Armstrong-Hipkins Center for the Arts, brings in both local and national artists throughout the academic year exhibiting a variety of mediums and talents. The Clinton Gallery, located on the second floor of Clinton Hall, displays artwork from Blair students over the past decade. And the walls of the Campus Center enjoy changing exhibitions by current AP Portfolio, Portfolio, Photography, and Advanced Art Students. Please visit the Romano Gallery page for a complete list of exhibiting artists for the current year.
