Blair Wins 2016 Ironman Tournament

Blair's number-one nationally ranked varsity wrestling team placed first among 96 schools to win the 23rd annual Walsh Jesuit Ironman Tournament in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, December 9 and 10. The Bucs scored an impressive 196 points, nearly 70 points higher than second-place finisher St. Edward's (127.5), and achieved top-eight placement in 10 weight categories. This marks Blair's 13th Ironman victory overall.

Senior Chase Singletary, who is ranked first in the nation at 220 lbs., earned the individual championship in his weight class. Andrew Merola placed second at 160 lbs., while Mike Coliaocco (113 lbs.), Zach Sherman (132 lbs.) and Malcolm Robinson (138 lbs.) placed third in their respective categories. "The team competed hard throughout the two-day event, and the wrestlers who found themselves in consolation rounds regrouped quickly and wrestled back to a strong finish," said head coach Brian Antonelli. "Our team members competed and represented Blair well, and we're proud of each of them."
