J. Brooks Hoffman '36 Health Center

Yesterday was the deadline for all health forms to be completed and loaded into Magnus through the Blair parent portal for the 2017-2018 School year. If you have not completed your student's health forms, please do so as soon as possible. NO STUDENT WILL BE PERMITTED TO REGISTER OR PLAY A SPORT WITHOUT COMPLETING THE IMPACT TEST AND SUBMITTING ALL HEALTH FORMS. All required health forms are available online via Magnus by clicking here. When uploading forms to Magnus, please remember to use the cover sheet supplied with the form. This cover sheet includes a code which helps the system load the forms into your child's record.

The health center asks that parents of students taking daily medications, who opted to supply those medications to the health center, request that their pharmacy "single dose package" medication. Single dose packaging is sometimes referred to as blister-packaging.Parents who have opted to have the health center obtain medications do not need to do anything. We have arranged to have medications single dose packaged, at no charge to you, from our local pharmacy. Parents who supply medications should mail the medications directly to the health center. Students may not have medications shipped to them.

Please email questions to Blair's Director of Health Services Peggy Fleck, DNP-DCC, at fleckp@blair.edu

Area Information and What to Bring

For information about local shopping and dining, click here and to view a list of area accommodations, click here. For a suggested packing list, including the clothing and room furnishings your child should bring to campus, click here. Remember, it often makes sense to wait until you arrive on campus, meet your roommate and see your room before bringing too many belongings.

Underclass and Senior Portraits

High Point Picture will take portraits of underclass students on Monday, September 18 from 8:45 a.m. to 3 p.m. Though we encourage freshman, sophomore and juniors to have their picture taken, we do not require it. Click here for more information about underclass portraits.

Senior portraits will be taken by photographer Justin Baiter. Portrait seatings will begin as early as the second week of school, so be sure your senior has appropriate attire: ties/jackets for gentlemen, appropriate length/fit dresses or tops and pants/skirts for ladies. Portrait seatings are free as the photos will be used for yearbook publication and parents will be invited to purchase photos from the photographer. Information on senior portrait proof previews, ordering and pricing will be forwarded to parents as soon as it is available. Note that proofs for underclass portraits and senior portraits will be sent by mail.

History, Culture & Cuisine: Blair Group Tours & Tastes Italy

Summer began under the glorious Italian sun for 21 Blair travelers, who explored the history, culture, language, art and cuisine of the European nation from June 20 to July 2. Led by Head of School Chris Fortunato, his wife, Erin, and their faculty co-chaperones, English department chair James Moore, his wife, Wendy Bedenko Moore, and English teacher Douglass Compton, the group experienced a "taste" of everything from ancient civilization to artisan gelato as they toured Rome, Florence, Venice, the Lake Maggiore region and Lugano, Switzerland.

Cuban Musicians Enjoy Hospitality during First-Ever U.S. Visit

Five teen guitarists and their adult chaperones from Cuba's Vocal Clave de Sol, a Havana-based music education program, enjoyed a warm welcome from the Blair community when they visited the School in mid-July. The musicians were in the United States for their first-ever American tour, and their three-night stay at Blair included a joy-filled community concert, a guitar-building workshop in the maker space, and a fun reunion with the teachers and several of the Blair students whom they met last March during Blair's historic spring break trip to Cuba.
